Chapter 564. A Giant Leap into the Unknown

The first thing that caught Raven’s attention was that the new quest was unrelated to Happy Birthday. This was weird because by signing the agreement, he was essentially giving the cult free rein over the dragon’s skeleton.

Another detail didn’t sit right with him: their dismissive attitude. Now it was his turn to make a proposal. Accepting the quest, Raven made his move.

“I see. I’m not interested,” he stated bluntly.

“Not interested?” Izol raised an eyebrow, either showing genuine confusion or pretending to be surprised. “Oh! So, you mean—”

“I’m not finished,” Raven interrupted her coldly. “Now listen carefully. I’m here on behalf of Abenkhriar. I assume I don’t need to explain who that is.”

His entire plan banked on the fact that high-ranking, well-informed necromancers would know the names of Death’s servants.

As the men stared at him with renewed curiosity, Izol’s demeanor changed. She dropped her facade, clearly taking him more seriously now.

“Just knowing the names of our Lady’s servants doesn’t prove your claim, messenger.”

“Would you like to ask him directly?”

“You…” Izol gave a flinch, unable to hide her intense interest—more like a fanatical curiosity—but she quickly regained control and responded in a measured tone, “Can you arrange that?”

Raven seemed to have struck a nerve, but it was too soon to celebrate.

“Of course. But as I mentioned, I have business to finish here first. We can set up the meeting after I’m done.”

“Alright. Then we’ll amend the agreement.”

“Are you sure you want to take that risk?” the Orc asked, fixing his gaze on her while the others also focused on Izol. “You know who might have a serious problem with this.”

From his question, it was clear that Izol held significant sway within the cult. This decision was hers to make.

“I know. But if this turns out to be a trick, we’ll still get back what’s ours.” She didn’t bother to explain further; everyone, including Raven, understood what she meant. “But if it’s not a trick, then…” Izol trailed off, but her comrades seemed to agree with her reasoning, exchanging glances before resuming their silent observation.

Izol turned her attention back to Raven. “Alright, about the agreement…”

The first phase of Raven’s risky plan was complete; now all that remained was to arrange the meeting between his enemies.

The new terms of the agreement were simple. The cult members would surrender the dragon’s skeleton and the Heart of Death to Raven and refrain from disturbing him for a week. In return, Raven would be obligated to escort Izol to Abenkhriar at the end of that period and would not interfere with their meeting in any way.

If either side failed to uphold their end of the deal, Raven would be barred from leveling up for three years—a harsh penalty, but one that Izol insisted on, citing Raven’s immortality.

Beyond the standard clauses about mutual neutrality until the deal was completed, Raven focused on the conditions for the journey and the timing of meeting.

The necromancers would buy a scroll nullifying any magic up
